finishing touches...complete

I finally got the finishing touches on the valances and put them back up. Now they at least look like I tried to make the old blue valances work in the green room.

Whooo's graduating?

I made one of these owls a couple of weeks ago for my son's graduation card. My twin decided that she needed 3 of them so I thought this would be a good time to share such an easy idea. I started by using 2 colors of brown paint on my sponge and made several ovals. I cut one out so it's a little bigger than my thumb. I added small circles with distressed (try using a make up sponge on your ink pad)edges for eyes. I like them a little cross-eyed. Then I glued on to a small square of paper, also distressed and added feet and a beak. Finally, a tiny square of color with some embroidery floss makes an adorable hat.

Garden Party

I've been working on this project for quite some time and am delighted that the end is in site. These are centerpieces and gifts for end of the year luncheons at my twin sister's school and at mine. The trowels along the edges are gifts for people that I work with. After the luncheons are over, we'll use the flower pots and birdhouses for parent volunteers gift. The rest I hope to sell at school or on my etsy site: (search sellers for pjjunker).
I used water bottles that I cut off, in the center of the flower pots that have the paper flowers on the bamboo sticks.

Mismatched Chairs are hard to find

I've been working on these chairs for my former breakfast nook, now craft room for quite some time. I had 2 chairs that filled the bill. Nice flat legs to glue on letters and upholstered (or will be someday) seats. I was sure I could scoot around to a few garage sales and pick up a couple more. After all, I found the first two at home. But after months of looking...although admittedly I'm not much of a garage saler, I've decided to just finish up the two that I have. I haven't found fabric for the seats yet, so this project is on hold.
My Christmas vacation must have been one week too long, because before it was over, I had ripped up the whole upstairs to add some green paint. What a mess! But now it's looking pretty good except for the blue valances in the b'fast nook. Of course, I'm too cheap to buy new ones...these came from Target 6 or 7 years ago so instead I decided to add these trees and birds. The inspiration came from some cards I made over spring break. What do you think?
